POST-SURGICAL MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE

Before/after photo of a post-op MLD treatment showing decreased swelling in client's face and neck.

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) treatment uses gentle and directional-specific skin stretch strokes to improve the body's flow of lymphatic fluid (lymph). This specialized technique increases the speed of lymph flow throughout your body, which allows your body to draw out excessive fluid and toxins from its tissue more efficiently. A portion of your lymph is deposited back into your cardiovascular system and the excess fluid, edema, and toxins are eliminated from your body through urination. The Vodder MLD Method, which Wendy is certified in through Klose Training, is considered the gold standard for MLD worldwide.

The photo is an example of reduced swelling in the client's face and neck in one MLD session. This client had chin liposuction/buccal fat removal and started treatment three days post-op. MLD can be used for any surgery type, including orthopedic, lipedema, cardiovascular, plastic, mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.

Swelling (edema) is a normal inflammatory response after surgery. Receiving MLD treatments before and after surgery is beneficial in many ways, including the following:

PRE-SURGERY:

Primes your lymphatic system

Improves lymph flow

Removes excess toxins from your body’s tissue

Promotes relaxation in preparation for surgery

POST-SURGERY:

Reduces swelling expeditiously

Improves surgical recovery

Reduces pain

Reduces the uncomfortable feeling of tightness

Reduces risk of developing fibrosis

Reduces scar tissue formation

Promotes relaxation for better recovery

The duration of each post-surgical session treatment and number of sessions will depend on the extent of your surgery. Wendy will go over this with you during your phone consult.
